Architecture Studio 2

Architecture Studio 2 introduces students the principles of design thinking in designing in architecture through studio based assignments. This module also emphasizes on "User and Context", which is the relationship between user and nature. 

Project One: Famous People, Familiar Faces

The first project for Architecture Studio 2 is a research on a master architect and one of their famous building that is assigned to us randomly.

 

In groups of 5-6, students were to analyze the building and produce a complete set of architectural drawings and formulate the findings into a set of 10 analysis diagrams and 10 diagrammatic models about the buildings deisign and architectural style.

Project 2a: Observation Deck

In a group, students are to conduct a site analysis of a given site. Our site is located at Cape Rachado in Melaka. Students are to collect data and record the following using diagrams. My group were then divided into subgroups to analyze certain topics. My subgroup were responsible to investigate on climatic studies.

After site analysis is finished, In a group of 2, students are to design an observation deck  and it is to correspond with the environment at the given site.

 

We are to create a series of diagrams, models and a complete set of drawings about our design. We were to create a design using two keywords, Me and my partner's being Hierachy and Repetition. 

Project 2b: Retreat House

Individually, student are to design a retreat house for a client at the given site at Cape Rachardo. From this, we were given a personality and an occupation randomly that makes our client. I was given an Introverted Filmmaker.

 

We were required to have during our final submission:

- Work in Progress models and sketches

- Diagrammatic explanation of our design 

- Full set of architectural drawings 

- Site analysis
